Eating fat doesn’t make you fat. We are all starting to catch on to this idea, but do we all know the science to support it? I sure didn’t! That is, until I read Good Fat, Bad Fat.

The book is chock-full of information to answers all your questions about fat, such as:

What happens to our bodies when we eat fat?
What are the differences between the three types of fat?
What actually makes people fat?
What is the Ketogenic diet?
What’s the difference between good and bad fat?
I want to start eating more fat, but where do I begin?

This book is not only informative, but a work of art as well. It’s brimming with great charts, graphs, meal plans and recipes.

One of my favorite points Romy included in her book

GFBF-Chart

was from Gary Taubes, a science writer and author. He believes that carbohydrates, which turn to sugar in everyone’s body, is actually what makes people fat. Taubes believes that if you try to solve that problem by using a low-fat diet, you will likely gain even more weight.

Did you know that every cell in our body needs fat to function? That’s right! Our Stone Age ancestors must have known this instinctively, for they ate very few carbohydrates and a lot of fat. Romy points out that “carbohydrates are not essential; a person can be healthy, strong and long-lived without them.” Fat, on the other hand, is essential. So why are we, as a society, depriving ourselves of fat and overloading on carbs?

Good Fat, Bad Fat also contains 70 recipes, all categorized by the type of fat used in them. Each has a mouthwatering photo, too! My favorites are Cinnamon-Coconut Ice Cream, Butter Chicken, Almond-Chocolate Biscotti (pictured above), Fish Tartare, Paleo Curry and Chocolate Mousse. Yum!

Good Fat, Bad Fat is a great book, and I encourage you all to check it out HERE.
