New Year, Same Me

As we near the New Year (and a new decade!), companies start pressuring us to strive for “New Year, New Me.” They want us to change ourselves—our diet, our fitness, our clothes—to fit some arbitrary standard.

I propose we do something a little different.

 

 

 

In 2020, let’s try to embrace how we are right now. Let us recognize that we do not inherently need to change any part of ourselves.

Instead of putting a ton of energy into trying to change ourselves to fit into a standard, let’s put that energy into doing more things that we love, spending more time with people we love. Let us enjoy where we are, and practice being present.

Are you with me? Are you ready to ditch the notion that you have to change yourself, and practice New Year, Same Me?
