When We Let Ourselves Feel the Feels
Bestselling author Sadie Radinsky has observed how society constantly makes girls feel like they’re not enough—or too much. From a young age, girls often diminish and deprive themselves in search of perfection. But what would happen if we threw away society’s shaming messages and embraced ourselves exactly as we are right now?
In this 40-minute talk, Sadie explores how young women can get in touch with their gut feeling and emotions, and use them to empower many different aspects of their lives. Through personal stories and advice, she shows that girls’ moods aren’t a problem that needs to be fixed—they’re a gateway into confidence and self-love.
Attendees will learn how to:
- Get in touch with their gut through mindful movement
- Use their emotions to stand up for themselves
- Cook & bake for mental and physical joy
- Create simple daily habits for listening to their feelings & bodies
- Break away from the deprivation mindset and eat for nourishment
Food for Thought
Our culture has set teen girls at war with their bodies and with food. From a young age, we’re conditioned to feel shame and guilt around the way our bodies look, and the food we eat. Sadie Radinsky wants to help change this. In this talk, the 19-year-old author delves into the ways girls have been conditioned to deprive themselves, and how it has disconnected us from ourselves and our bodies. She offers a new approach to our bodies and eating, focused on nourishment. Using personal stories and advice from her book, Sadie shows how through mindful movement and baking, we can nourish ourselves mentally and physically.
Afterword, she will share a lively 10-minute cooking demonstration for one of her delicious, healthy gluten-free dessert recipes.
Yoga Made Me a Rebel
Sadie Radinsky first stepped on the yoga mat at age twelve. She was expecting just a workout, but what she found was a deep connection with her breath and body. The connection was all about how the body felt, not how it looked. She continued practicing yoga throughout her teenage years, and it helped her to forge an accepting, loving relationship with herself. This connection has empowered her life in surprising ways–like teaching her how to say “no” when something doesn’t feel right, and stand up for herself in uncomfortable situations.
In this 30-minute talk, Sadie shows young women how movement can help them to get in touch with their bodies, listen to their gut, and use that power to stand up for themselves.
Treat yourself: Baking to make friends with food
When Sadie Radinsky’s stomach issues as a nine-year-old meant she had to go gluten-free, she was devastated—that meant missing out on her favorite foods: desserts. But through trial and error, she began baking delicious gluten-free desserts that not only wowed everyone she knew but made the body feel good.
Her years in the kitchen concocting recipes led her to start a blog at age 12 and publish a book at 18. But the biggest impact it had was helping her create a friendly relationship with food.
Our culture makes girls feel that eating—especially treats—is shameful. In this engaging 30-minute talk, Sadie explores the power of baking to help girls rebel against the shame society conditions us to feel, and embrace it as a friend in our lives.
Afterward, she will share a 10-minute cooking demo for one of her simple healthy, gluten-free treat recipes.
